United We Stand. Divided We Fall

It's the morning after and there's only one cure for this election hangover. Please, I implore you to stop the trash talk and start cleaning up!

It's the morning after the election and time for us to do what Americans do best: pull together. Stop bashing. Stop blaming. Start doing. Take whatever energy and response you have about the results and pour it into one another.  If you're angry, channel that into helping someone who is being bullied or taken advantage of. If you're worried, check on those around you, help the helpless. If you're sad, call someone who is emotionally down and be a source of support. If you're excited and filled with hope about a different way, boost someone who needs it.

If there has ever been a time to come together, this is it. This election sets off a blaring alarm that says stop talking, start doing. It's not because of who has won. It's because of the divisiveness that has been prevalent in our great nation and that will be our real downfall if we don't step up individually in our own families, neighborhoods, and hometowns and say, "We will not be divided."

WE are this country. Not the president. Not the government. It's US. No matter what happens from here, it's all on us to love and take care of one another.  We have a moral obligation to step up in bigger ways. Take responsibility. Turn fear into determination. Hold out an olive branch to someone who is different than you, who holds different beliefs, who comes from a different place, who looks different, who voted differently. Help. Love. Give. Listen. Seek to understand. Do this actively. Daily.

Today we need to be reminded of the words we uttered in classrooms across this great country, words we need to repeat daily:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."  This should also be our pledge to one another.

One nation. One for all. All for one.

Under God. If there's ever been a call for prayer and God, this is it. If you're a believer, show it through prayers and actions. If you're not, maybe this is a time to get curious about God and give Him a chance.

Indivisible. We must stand together. Let nothing divide us. Nothing!

With liberty and justice for all. Let this be our fight song as we look our for and speak up for one another.

Our pledge. Our obligation. Now more than ever. Please, oh please, America. Come together. Come together. Come together.

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me. And you. Now let's get to work...

Love, peace, and hope!
